Connected to the mainland by a ferry, the beautiful beach Tavira, which is located on the island of Tavira, is a sandbar that extends southwest of Tavira to the outskirts of Fuseta. Along this beach, parade kilometers of sun-drenched dunes, without a hotel in sight. On the main part of the beach, you can rent a parasol or paddle boats and have a drink or have a drink in one of the few restaurants. In the middle of summer, this part of the beach fills with swimmers, but it’s enough to walk a dozen minutes to Barril beach to get away from crowds. The coastal strip of Armação de Pêra in Centianes is a succession of delightful beaches of coves that have escaped the real estate developments. Among them, two are particularly distinguished: Marinha and Benagil. The first is a classic maze of coves with only a trace of construction, that of a seasonal restaurant on the beach. It is not uncommon to see dolphins. Following the path that runs along the cliff, we arrive at the bay of Benagil, a miniature village with its pretty little beach, wedged between two high cliffs. Nowadays a popular seaside resort – with all the excitement and inconvenience – the old fishing village of Nazaré has a beautiful beach in the middle of the city. Its main part is an expanse of sand dotted with umbrellas of all colors in summer. The beach then extends north beyond the village cape. The sea may seem inviting on some days of warm, calm weather, but do not forget that swimming on these beaches directly exposed to the Atlantic can be dangerous. Foz de Minho
Two kilometers south-west of the charming and peaceful town of Caminha lies a real treasure: Foz de Minho, the most northern beach in Portugal. Along an idyllic wooded peninsula, where the expansive estuary of Rio Minho joins the Atlantic, a wooden pontoon flirts with the water’s edge and leads to a sheltered river beach. Five minutes walk later, through the pines, appears the beautiful large beach of Foz de Minho, on the Atlantic. And beyond a small fortress island, you can see Spain. The beach of Figueira
Algarve
Praia da Figueira can only be accessed by walking. But the spectacle of this often desert beach is well worth the endured effort. The small village of Figueira is the starting point of the path that leads to the beach, located at the foot of the ruins of an old fort. It is one of the least visited of this part of the coast because it can not be reached by car. It takes twenty to thirty minutes walking through charming landscapes.

Asleep in the off-season, the charming village of Odeceixe wakes up in the summer when a stream of surfers and vacationers emerge, drawn by its magnificent beach stretching four kilometers to the west of the village. In summer, you can get there by taking the small tourist train or on foot following the road through the valley to the bay framed by low cliffs. The beach of Odeceixe is one of the most sheltered of this part of the coast. Surfing is fantastic and swimming there is no big danger.

Comporta
Hidden in a remote area of northern Alentejo, west of the historic port city of Alcácer do Sal, is Comporta, one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. It offers deserted expanses of sand as far as the eye can see, a beautiful stretch of soft beach lined with two seasonal coffee shops. There are almost no hotels, many lisboetes spend their weekend there. The back country is composed of rice fields.

The beach da Bordeira and beachAmado
Algarve
Beside the modest village of Carrapateira, Praia da Bordeira and Praia do Amado seduce. Few European beaches can claim to be more impressive than these two. In Bordeira, the beach is spectacular and wild, bordered by giant dunes and a tiny river. It’s also a paradise for surfers. Two kilometers to the south, it is in a large sandy bay that stands the fantastic beach of Amado. Two cafes open during the season allow to eat and satiate surfers just as fans of the place as Bordeira. There are some guest houses but no hotels.

Galapos
Parque Natural da Arrábida
The steep and wooded slopes of the Serra da Arrábida dominate the coast of a region that since 1976 has been protected under the Parque Natural da Arrábida. There are wild cats, polecats, badgers, buzzards and eagles. Relatively little frequented by tourists, the region is surprisingly beautiful and full of coves and small beaches. Located in a beautiful bay with calm waters and close to the small fishing port of Portinho da Arrábida, Galapos is the most beautiful beach in the area. Sublime!

The beaches of Porto Côvo
Alentejo
The Portuguese love the south coast of Alentejo, an untouched stretch of small hills, wave-swept cliffs and small seaside resorts grouped around idyllic sandy coves. The old fishing village of Porto Côvo is the ideal starting point to access the beaches. Popular weekend destination of the Lisboetes, Porto Côvo fills up in August. The rest of the year, the village lives to the sound of the Atlantic breeze. The nearest beach, to the north, is a sand triangle nestled in the cliffs that then gives onto the Praia Grande, which is aptly named beach. Paths follow the cliffs to the north and south of the village and allow access to other beaches such as Praia da Samouqueira, which takes its name from its extraordinary rock formations.
