Their dad Jerry was born with the same powers but was forced to relinquish them when he married their mom, a mortal named Theresa. Now, while their parents run the family business, Waverly Sub Station, the three siblings get into and out of comedic situations as they grapple with both their budding wizardly powers and typical teen challenges spanning school, friends and family. Season 1 1.01 Crazy Ten Minute Sale Original AirDate: October 12, 2007 Summary: Alex uses a spell to create her image to place in class while she skips wizard training to attend the Crazy 10 Minute Sale in order to buy the cool jacket that her rival Gigi is after. Meanwhile, Max has just received his new wand and inadvertently manipulates Alex’s actions through her 3-D image prompting her to make a fool of herself at the sale. Justin sets up a tutorial program in the Sub Station and is threatened by the local Wiz Kid whose business he’s stealing. Alex tries to convince Jerry that he’s too strict with his rules on magic but after TJ’s mischievous use of magic places everyone in jeopardy, Alex appreciates that her dad has set boundaries afterall. At first the zit proves to be helpful by serving in a Cyrano capacity as Justin tries to impress his date Miranda but when it begins to insult people, Alex arrives in time to turn it back into a plain old zit on Justin’s forehead. Promotional Stills | Screencaps 1.21 Art Museum Piece Original AirDate: August 31, 2008 Summary: When Alex decides to take a short cut on her Art History assignment, she brings historical masterpieces to life such as the Mona Lisa, Blue Boy and even the Scream in order to answer the questions on her work sheet correctly. Ultimately she needs Justin to help her with the second half of the spell which replaces the art figures to their canvas’ by stating specific details. Meanwhile, Jerry and Max use a spell that allows the football they’re tossing around to pass right through things. When it accidentally lands in Theresa’s dinner soup, the spell works on Jerry, Max and Theresa too allowing them to play chase running right through the furniture.
